At the Wonder Years Academy we understand the importance of consistency. This is why in our infant classroom we keep the same schedule that your infant is on while not in our loving care.
We will ensure that what you are doing at home gets done here. Each infant has their own individual care-provider who follows your child’s daily plan for meal and nap times.
Keeping the infant environment sanitized and disinfected is important and we have put definitive procedures in place to ensure cleanliness.
Our Staff are required to adhere to all sanitary measures. Toys and cribs are disinfected nightly. Changing tables are disinfected after each individual diaper is changed.
At the Wonder Years Academy we ensure that each infant has their own crib, sheets, and blankets. Along with the individual cribs each infant also has 2 individual cubbies. One cubby is used strictly for diapering supplies; diapers, wipes, and ointments. The second cubby is used for all food supplies; puffs, oatmeal, formula, and jarred food. In addition to the two cubbies, the infants also have their own individualized bin for spare changes of clothes.
At the end of the day you will receive your infant’s daily sheet. This form will tell you all about your little one’s day.
Our infant teachers have many, many years of experience and co-teach in a warm, loving and nurturing environment.
Busy Bees are striving for independence and have reached a child's first real milestone. They have grown into the mobile stage and are walking and exploring their fascinating environment.
Since our Busy Bees learn through play and exploration, we give them the space, age-appropriate materials and stimulation they need to help develop and grow.
At this stage, we focus on hand-eye coordination, motor development, problem solving and communication skills. Our Busy Bees are quickly developing at this age and are continually developing and reaching their milestones not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
Our Busy Bee teachers are experienced, passionate, energetic and dedicated.
Jungle Jammers are now independent, curious and into lots of exploration. Jungle Jammers have expanded their language skills and can communicate verbally. At this stage independence dominates and exploration is their number one priority and children grow and develop very quickly.
Once children enter our Jungle Jammers classroom the focus shifts to more of a pre-school educational experience.
Each day theJungle Jammers start their day off with circle time where they are introduced to the concept of the day. Here they learn and review letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. Our experienced and energetic teachers work in small groups with the children during art, sensory, and fine motor skill development. This ensures we dedicate sufficient time for the child to understand concepts that are newly introduced.
Along with education another main focus in this classroom is to us become toilet-ready. Our Jungle Jammers will be introduced to the potty every hour and a half to get them familiar with the concept of going on the potty. Once the child becomes interested and shows interest in using the potty, they will be brought to the bathroom every half hour to ensure that by the time they are 3 years old they will be fully toilet-ready and prepared to make their way to Pre-Kindergarten.
Our Wildcat classrooms represent our Pre-Kindergarten Program. This is where the core of our educational curriculum begins. The children are fully engaged in small group learning throughout the day. Our Wildcats will start their day at 9am with circle time. Their circle time consists of a story that introduces the concept of the day, letter, number, and color of the week. Days of the week, month of the year, and weather of the day are also discussed.
After circle time children work on their socialization and communication skills by working in small groups. While children are in small groups they work on their fine motor skills, math, language, science, and art activities pertaining to the concept and topic of the day. Gross motor skills get done daily through music and movement, and physical fitness activities.
This program also teaches the children independent skills such as making their own cots for nap, putting away their nap time sheets and blankets, and cleaning up their breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Since our students are encouraged to use their independent skills they have confidence and an “I can do it” attitude.
Here children can be independent and exercise a variety of personal, social and emotional skills. The children continue to learn in both large and small group activities and are introduced to Spanish, sign language and sight words. Our Shining Stars program will introduce children to reading and writing through phonics, and journaling.
A major part of our Pre-Kindergarten program focuses around our S.T.E.M program where additional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math lessons are implemented weekly.
